As you approach Fredericksburg, it is pretty hard to miss the impressive German style castle on the right of US 290. Altstadt Brewery is a place not to miss! There is so much to explore here! You will find a brewery, brewery tours, tap room, restaurant, Biergarten, Rathskellar, Grand Hall and the Tractor Museum!
Opening the door of the main building you don’t know where to look first! You then decide to sample some beer, maybe take a brewery tour, then enjoy a bite to eat. It could take all of a relaxing day. You will feel this is a day well spent! Control may be necessary or you might over imbibe.
The Grand Hall should be visited and possibly show your dance moves to the live music and enjoy a delicious appetizer like the Jumbo Crab cakes or the Bavarian Pretzel. The Das Reuben Sandwich is without question a sandwich for two, tender corned beef, sauerkraut, Yummmm!
The Tractor Museum is a treat for all ages! We have had so much fun with all of our friends and guests we have introduced to this museum! The tractors range from matchbox size to as large as a small house! Steam, diesel and gas, all on display in beautiful condition. In addition, you may see a beautiful car from a different generation, all while sipping a freshly brewed biere or a glass of local Texas wine.
