Comfort, Texas, a Town Not To Miss

We are often asked "What else is there to do close by Fredericksburg"? So we tell them about a great little town 15 miles south from Walnut Canyon Cabins, Comfort, Texas. Comfort is a small town with a rich history and a lot of charm. Comfort was founded in 1854 by German immigrants who valued a way of life that sometimes feels far away today and is very refreshing to find!
Comfort offers Newsom Vineyards, Singing Waters Winery, Bending Branch Winery, and some great coffee shops. Other watering holes even offers darts and outdoor swings, a little something for everyone!
Meet some locals, taste some great wood fired pizza, with gelato for dessert at Comfort Pizza. Enjoy authentic thin crust pizza with original toppings and great gelato! High Cafe and Store is always a great place to eat or pick up items for a picnic on the way to Joshua Springs or the Guadalupe River.
There are also a few live music spots. Both Just Chillin' and Remedy Hall also have a Pickleball Court! There is music outdoors on the second Tuesday of each month in Comfort Park.
The art and antiques stores in Comfort will send you back in time for sure! You will love Comfort's High Street! The historic limestone buildings that house galleries, shops, and cafes are incredible monuments to the past and inside these beautiful buildings you will find something old, a few things new and always there is something blue! Not to be missed is The Elephant Story, a unique shop that supports elephant conservation efforts by selling fair trade goods from Asia.
Nearby Comfort are great, relaxing and less traveled places to enjoy art, nature and sip wine. Joshua Springs Park and Preserve offers hiking trails, fishing piers, picnic areas, and wildlife viewing. Flat Rock Ranch is nearby for mountain bike riding, with miles of trails for everyone from beginner to advanced! The Buckhorn Golf Course is right there as well, sporting a beautiful 18 hole course at reasonable pricing.
