107 Alamo Road, Comfort, TX

Our Neighborhood Burger joint! Great burgers, casual atmosphere with music on the weekends. Indoor and outdoor dining. The onion rings are the best we’ve had – freshly made and seasoned just right. The roasted garlic and goat cheese served on crostinis is worth the trip alone. Try the jalapeno cheese bun. Ranked by Texas Monthly as the third-best burger in Texas.

103 S Llano Street

Italian food that is simple and good. Nothing fancy or upscale. We went for dinner and had the lasagna and enjoyed it. We went on a Monday night and did not have to wait for a table since we arrived before 6 pm. Many others who arrived after 6 pm did have a wait a short time. Their pasta is not homemade. Overall, a good family restaurant.

183 East Main Str.

Very deceiving look from the outside as it appears they are only an ice cream shop. They are so much more! We went for lunch. Had the Reuben sandwich on freshly made bread. The deli meats are from Boar’s Head, one of our favorite vendors. They make the ice cream in-house which we sampled and will be back for a larger bite soon. Large selection of sweet bakery items. Very friendly service. Great spot for lunch, they also have an app to order and pay on line so your lunch can be ready to pick up on the way to Enchanted Rock or road food home!

316 E Austin St

Stopped in at Otto’s on a Monday night just before 6 pm. They had not filled up yet so we were happy. We were on a tight schedule and they accommodated our time constraints well. This is a high quality upscale retaurant and the food and presentation reflect this. Staff very attentive and friendly. A perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. We tried Otto’s salad and since we like beets, it hit the spot! Next we enjoyed the Graavlax – one of the best we’ve ever had, probably would have licked the plate clean if no one was looking. Our entree was the Duck Schnitzel – a dish we have not had before at any restaurant and it was awesome! If you have the extra cash and want a great dining experience, this is the place.

107 S Llano St

We ate here on Octoberfest weekend. It was busy but we were well attended to and the staff was friendly. We had 3 different kinds of pizza. All good, all very large. The crust was a little too thick for my liking. We also had a salad which was good. Indoor and outdoor seating.

310 E Main St

Classic German dinner plates of Schnitzel and Sausage. Other options too, but we only tried the Sausage plate. Outdoor seating and live music make it fun.

1011 Guadalupe; Kerrville

This restaurant is not in Fredericksburg, but in Kerrville about 30 miles away. We celebrated a birthday here and enjoyed everything about it. The atmosphere is beautiful. We started with Mussels amd Tuna Tartare both excellent. We shared the prime Top Sirloin and highly enjoyed it. Others around us were raving about the Filet Mignon. Our waiters were very attentive and great to speak with. Another great restaurant to spend a little extra cash at and celebrate a fun occasion! We will definitely go back when the weather changes so we can see the view of the River at sunset.

506 E Main

Traditional American-Mexican restaurant. Easy on the pocket book. Huge menu. I really enjoyed their Chicken Tortilla Soup. We also enjoyed their Beef Fajitas. Fast, friendly service. Good family restaurant.

504 E Main St

Traditional American-Chinese restaurant. To be fair, we arrived about 15 minutes before closing time and it was obvious they were getting ready around us to shut-down for a long Thanksgiving holiday. We had a friendly attentive waiter. We chose a bowl of spicy shrimp lemongrass soup and lettuce wraps. The soup was not spicy enough for me. The menu is extensive. When we get a chance, we’ll go back and try something else.

902 S Adams

We tried out the Sunset Grill on a Sunday. We did not realize they don’t have a full menu on Sunday only the Brunch Menu. We weren’t in the mood for eggs or breakfast so we tried the special of the day, a Fish sandwich and sweet potato fries. The sandwich was huge and the side of fries was as well. We were glad to share it with each other. It was very good. We will definately go back to try breakfast and lunch!

305 S Lincoln St

Love this place for lunch! Fun and interesting interior inside an old warehouse that sells antiques. We had a yummy flavorful salad and the Woerner Works Pizza. Best pizza I’ve enjoyed since we moved here. The bakery items looked amazing. Friendly, attentive staff.

1410 East Main St

Traditional American-Mexican food. We had a complimentary meal at this restaurant so we did not get to choose what we ate. We had beef soft-shelled tacos with rice and beans. The beef had good flavor. Of course, chips and salsa, too.

1718 Sidney Baker St, Kerrville

We’ve eaten here twice. We do not go to Kerrville very often but we liked it the first time so we went back again the next time we were in town. It’s good American-Mexican food, a step above some of the others we’ve tried. The staff is very attentive and the food comes out fast and hot. Easy on your pocket book and consistently good.

1679 S US Hwy 87

Texas BBQ for sure! We arrived as they were closing after lunch service (we have to work on our timing) Really moist brisket, good smoked sausage and pulled pork. Loved the potato salad and cole slaw as well! We are still getting used to Texas portions! Looking forward to going back!

410 S Washington St.

Where we get the Canadian Bacon we have for your breakfasts! They have all kinds of smoked meats, all really good! Their sandwiches are tasty as well!

The Black Pig is a small diner a little over a mile away. A stationary Food truck with shelter and picnic tables for dining.  Very casual, very good food! Our fave there is the Catfish. They are very well know for their house-made desserts as well! A friendly place to meet local hill country folks! BYOB. Open Friday through Sunday 11-8 definitely a great stop!

608 Alamo Rd, Fredericksburg, TX 78624 (830) 499-1195

Nury’s is a little out of the way, however very worthwhile!  We enjoyed the friendly, comfortable atmosphere great service and reasonable prices. We really enjoyed some Chilean Sea Bass and Ceviche.  Hours are a little varied Nury’s is open for Lunch Tuesday through Sunday, Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday and dinner is available Thursday Friday and Saturday.

714 S Washington St, Fredericksburg, TX · (830) 992-3217

Bella Sera is a a very good family style Italian Restaurant with attentive servers with beer and wine available. We enjoyed the really fresh salad, and Chicken Marsala, chicken was tender and sauce was flavorful, house made rolls a great meal and value!

1311 S. State Hwy 16, Fredericksburg, Tx 830-990-0140

Black Board BBQ is located real close to Sisterdale but the address say Boerne, it is a little closer than Fredericksburg from Walnut Canyon Cabins. The Wagyu brisket was reasonably priced and you do NOT need a fork! Jo’s Asian Slaw was fabulous as well!  Service was great! This is a place to put on your “BBQ bucket list”!

1123 Sisterdale Road, Boerne, TX 78006, US  830-324-6858

A great little store for all kinds of specialty grocery items, unique gift items and wines! Specialty charcuterie meats, cheeses, and locally sourced artisan bread. We love this place because we can get Picholine Olives here!

312 East Austin Street, Fredericksburg, TX 830-992-3036

An incredible find in Comfort! Same distance as Fredericksburg from the cabins! Call in advance to “reserve your dough”! It takes 24 plus hours to make their dough and they do sell out many days so you call in advance to have youe pizza made when you get there! A true Napoli style thin crust pizza baked in a wood-fired oven. The ingredients and the preparation took us back to southern Italy. Truly worth the journey and the stop! Has outdoor dining and occasional music. Serves beer and wine.

802 High Street, Comfort Texas 830-995-5959

312 E Main St, Fredericksburg

Cozy & unpretentious old-world ambience serving traditional German food. Located in a historic limestone building located on Main Street. They do not take Visa or MasterCard, which is unusual in our experiences, however, they were quick to tell us when we walked in. We chose the Rinderbraten for our entree– roasted beef with brown gravy & german potatoes. It was flavorful & cooked to our liking. The red cabbage was the best I’ve had in many years.  The portions are not large, so if you are really hungry you may not wish to split a dish with your dining partner.  We will return!

319 B East Main St, Fredericksburg

Serves smoked brisket burgers, hot dogs & spiralized potatoes on a stick – called Tornado Fries.  Yes, you can get regular French Fries, also however if you have never had a tornado fry, or if you have you should try these for sure!  The restaurant is tucked behind a building located on Main Street – worth the search. The food was unique, fresh & delicious.  The atmosphere is casual & clean.  The staff is friendly and the service was fast. It’s also affordable so you get a great meal and you don’t feel like you had to break the bank.  We will definitely return again soon.

312 W Main St, Fredericksburg

We went to Hondo’s on a Wednesday night to listen to our neighbor Jeff play drums in the band.  What a fun place to grab a great bite for dinner & listen & dance to fun music.  Jeff’s band does not play country music, unless you consider The Eagles music country! It was a beautiful evening so we sat outside on picnic tables. If you get there when they are busy, you may have a longer wait as you stand in line to place your order. They advertise they are a self-service restaurant, it is what it says! They give you a pager so you can pick up your order when it is ready. The top-shelf Margarita was delicious! We tried the Slob Cobb Salad – fresh & a nice size to split . For dinner we ordered the Fajita-Lada…Enchiladas made with Fajita fixins’. Yummy! Can’t wait to return as the menu had many items we want to try.

 102 E Ufer St, Fredericksburg

Stopped in here for a quick cocktail before dinner. Beautifully decorated & cozy since it is not very big.  A bar that sits about 8. The bar area also has 3 tables of 4 seats with a small bar against the windows that seats 3. In addition, a secluded room that sits another 12. They have an appetizer menu of Pizza and Cheese & Meat Charcuterie. We will try the food and coffee another time. For a different adventure they also offer a “Rolling Bar” get on the bike after you grab your favorite beverage and pedal around and see Fredericksburg!
